Circulation

An
optional circulation system provides the title, author, and call number of any cataloged
item when the accession number is entered, or you may enter anything not in the
database
You
may use the circulation system without the online catalog if you desire
Accession
numbers, to identify a circulating object, may be entered with barcodes and barcode
readers if youre using the online catalog, and if you prefer.
A
due date defaults to four weeks unless customized to something else, and any due date can be
overridden. Fines may be charged or not, and any day of the week may be exempted from
fines.
The
borrowers name is entered from either the keyboard or a barcoded ID card. The
appropriate record may be deleted, renewed for any date, or declared lost in circulation.
If the latter is chosen, the item is marked not on shelf in the database. If
desired, a report may be printed in order by title, borrower, accession number, call
number, or due date.
Anything
in circulation may be searched: if a borrowers name is entered, for example, the
system will turn up all items owed by that borrower; if a date is entered, the system will
display all items due on that date.
Items
may be flagged for reserve. The system will code the item and maintain the
requesters name and the title requested. Letters to delinquent borrowers may be
created automatically, and notices are simultaneously written for titles which will be due
the following week. Borrowers exempt from due dates may be sent similar notices at any
time.
The
system provides for security in that passwords control every operation if you
have passwords enabled
